The short version. Scan145 turns documents into text and tables — photograph a page or import a PDF, and the app reads it and keeps the result. All of that happens on your device by default. Text recognition runs offline, and your documents, extracted values and PDFs are stored only on the phone. There is no account and no sign-in. The app contains no advertising and no analytics SDKs. One optional feature is different and it is the one to read about: an off-by-default cloud mode that sends a picture of the page to a server for recognition. It is described in full in §4.
Please read this before installing. By installing or using Scan145 you agree to it. "We", "us" and "our" mean the developer of Scan145; "the app" means the Scan145 iOS and Android application and the cloud functions it can optionally call.
You give it a page — a photo, a picture from your gallery, or a PDF. It recognises the text, pulls out values and tables where it can, and stores the result so you can search and compare later.
By default every step of that is local. Recognition runs on your own device, the extracted data goes into a database inside the app's private storage, and any PDF the app produces is written to your device.
| What | Where it is stored | Leaves the device? |
|---|---|---|
| Photos and PDFs you import or capture | App's private storage | No, unless you turn on cloud mode (§4) |
| Recognised text and extracted values | A local database on the device | No |
| PDFs the app generates | Your device, and wherever you share them to | Only where you send them |
| Your settings and chosen language | On the device | No |
With cloud mode off — the default — nothing. The app has no account, no telemetry and no analytics, so we receive nothing from your use of it.
An earlier version of this policy was inaccurate about third parties. This one describes what the application actually contains. The cloud feature in §4 is described as it is: opt-in, off by default, and off again every time the app restarts.
The app can optionally send a page to a server for recognition and analysis, which is more capable than offline recognition on difficult scans. This is the only feature that transmits your documents anywhere.
Do not use cloud mode for anything you are not willing to send to a third party. Offline recognition covers the ordinary case and transmits nothing. If you are unsure whether it is on, restart the app — that switches it off.
| Permission | Why | Required? |
|---|---|---|
| Camera | To photograph a page | No — you can import files instead |
| Photos | To pick an existing image | No |
| Files / documents | To import a PDF you choose | No |
On current systems the photo picker is the system one, so the app receives only the images you chose and cannot see the rest of your library. File access is likewise limited to the file you pick.
Offline recognition uses the text-recognition engine built into your device's platform, or one bundled with the app. Either way it runs locally: the page is not transmitted, and no recognition data is sent to us.
The engines differ between iOS and Android, so the same page can produce slightly different text on the two platforms. That is a quality difference, not a privacy one.
When you share or export a PDF or a file, it goes wherever you send it, through your system's own share sheet. At that point the receiving app or service governs it, not us. The app itself uploads nothing as part of sharing.
Local data lives on your device for as long as the app is installed. Individual documents and records can be deleted inside the app; uninstalling removes everything the app created. Pages sent in cloud mode are processed to return a result and are not kept by us as a record of yours. To ask about deletion, write to innastik@hcontacts.com.
Local data sits in the app's private storage, which the operating system keeps other applications out of, so its security rests mainly on your device's own passcode and encryption. Cloud requests, when enabled, are sent over an encrypted connection. No protection is absolute, which is why the default is to send nothing at all.

We may amend this document. A new version is published at this address with a new effective date. Continuing to use the app constitutes acceptance.
By installing or using Scan145 you accept these terms. If you do not, do not install it.
You get a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable licence to use the app on devices you own or control. You may not resell it, rent it, or attempt to derive its source code beyond what your local law permits regardless of this clause.
Automatic text recognition makes mistakes. Digits are misread, columns are mixed up, and a smudged or skewed page produces worse results than a clean one. Everything the app extracts is a best effort and nothing more.
Check anything that matters against the original document. Do not rely on an extracted value for any decision, obligation or record where being wrong would cost you something. The app is a convenience for reading documents, not an authority on their contents.
The app does not back anything up. Everything lives on one device, so a lost, reset or broken phone takes it with it, and we cannot recover what we never held. If the contents matter, keep your own copies — the app can export them.
Use the app lawfully. You are responsible for the documents you put into it, including any personal data of other people they contain and any rules that apply to you for holding or transmitting it. That responsibility applies with particular force if you choose to enable cloud mode.
The app is provided "as is", without warranty of uninterrupted or error-free operation, and without any warranty as to recognition accuracy.
To the extent permitted by applicable law, we are not liable for indirect or consequential damages, lost profit, or lost, corrupted or misread data arising from use of the app.
You may end this agreement at any time by uninstalling the app.
